I was born and brought up in East Germany, in a small village at the middle of nowhere and was introduced to massage from an early age because it is part of the German health care system.
Originally trained as a Scientist in BSc Inorganic and organic technology, I needed a career change after marrying an English man and moving to Devon 10 years ago as there were no job opportunities locally within this field!
Initially I completed a certificate in counselling course at The Iron Mill Institute but then found myself drawn to Indian Head massage. Once completing the VTCT course in February 2006 I found I was hooked! The combination of how well people responded to the treatment and my enjoyment of massaging encouraged me to learn more.
My ongoing professional training and development has been continuous ever since, starting with an ITEC qualification in holistic Massage, followed by Sports massage, and also includes seated acupressure, myofascial release, breathing patterns and a range of other advanced techniques. Most recently in September 2011, I graduated with the BTEC Level 5 diploma in clinical sports and remedial massage from The Massage Training School, which is the highest qualification in this field.
I have been in private practice since 2006 and joined the team at The Massage Clinic in 2010 – I enjoy both environments and get the best of both worlds this way.
I’m committed to providing the best service possible and therefore continue to train and keep abreast of new research and developments. In addition to good training, I believe a therapist should have a passion for their work and an ability to connect with you as a client thus ensuring you feel safe, pampered and receive a high quality and effective treatment.
