Darren Bradley - Sports Massage Therapist

Sports Massage Therapist AFF MFHT

I started practising sports massage in 1996 as a career change. My initial interest in studying and qualifying was for self-help following numerous muscular injuries in my sport of running and duathlon; I am a well known face on the roads and at competitions within the South West. Such was the impact of what could be achieved with the hands that helping others through massage became a passion.

Since qualifying, I have continuously provided a comprehensive treatment to many professional sports people and the general public. I was a professional adviser and therapist to the Great Britain Cycling Team during 1997. I have worked with professional football teams and been involved with the South West’s elite squash players, some of whom now play on the world circuit. My involvement in running, cycling, coaching and competing have been invaluable in comprehending the physical and psychological needs of all athletes, enabling me to effectively treat their injury and ensuring a swift return to fitness.

Many of the sport orientated clients find that this form of massage is excellent in helping to prevent muscular problems arising and therefore they remain injury free for longer. Others find the increased feel-good factor following treatment helps promote confidence or eases the stresses and strains of our hectic lives. However, you don’t need to be a sports person to benefit from this form of massage; everyone can benefit. Scores of people are suffering muscular pain; often with problems arising because of poor posture or habitual and repetitive actions. For this reason many people see this treatment as a regular body service.

I specialise in deep tissue work, stretching and the re-balancing of muscles, in order to help restore natural posture and relieve muscular disorders. A treatment plan may include exercises and stretching to be carried out at home between visits.
